London, October 12. Consols have advanced }i } and are now quoted at 102^5. The market rate of discount has fallen to 3^ per cent, and is now J_ below the Bank rate.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercan* tile Agency Company, Limited, has just received the following cable message from London, dated October nth, 18S7:— Wheat—Market quiet. New Zealand wheat, long-berried, is worth 32s pet 4961 b: Tallow — Market steady, It has been lower since we last telegraphed, but has recovered. Good mutton and beef tallows are worth respectively 23s and 22s per cwt. Leather — Market firm, with an upward tendency. Frozen Meat— Market quiet. Canterbury mutton is worth Ad per lb,
The following private telegram waa received m Christchurch from London yesterday :— ■ The wheat market is stationary. Californian cargoes, for shipment m November and December, are selling at 34s 6d for 5001 b, first quality. Adelaide distant cargoes are selling at 335, to arrive next April.
