Blsxhxim, September 6. Mr Alfred Dobion, an t Id settler, died •t 11 o'clock this morning. Deceased, who was a well-known surveyor and civil engineer, arrived m New Zealand m 1851. He held the appointment of ohief surveyor •t Nelson, under Mr Stafford, who was then the Superintendent. Hb wag the chief surveyor and Provincial Engineer of Marlborongh after separation fromNelar.n. From 1870 to 1876 he was the Resident Engineer at Picton, and the Superintendent for the construction of the railway from Plcfcon to Blenheim, sinoa which he resided In the latter place, and practised hit profession np to within a few months Ago. The deceased was a brother to Mr Edward Dob»on, well-known m Canter bar/.
