COURSING
A friendly coursing meeting, given by Mr J. Grigg, on hia estate at Longbeach yesterday, passed off with great anooeas, abont 100 beingr present, consisting of visitors from Chriatohurch, Ashburton and the surrounding district. There were also a large number of ladles present, which added greatly to the appearance ot the Boene. Sport commenced about 10 o'olock. Haros were numerous, and nearly every event resulted m a kill. An ex cellent lunoheon wai provided by Mr Grigg, to whioh ample jaatioa was doae. Mr R, P. Hill, from Christohurch, gave great satisfaction as judge, also Mr Healy as slipper. The meeting was brought to a cloae about 5,30, when hearty cheers were given for Mr Grigg and family's kind hospitality. The following are the results:— Winner, £4 4i and Mr Grigg's prfsa. A Consolation wag got up on the ground for all beaten dogs and resulted m a win for Tearing Younoj Fellow.
