On Saturday, at Onehunga, the Gairloch hod discharged a cargo of sheep, when a train which was on the wharf at the time ran through the flock, killing and maiming several of the sheep. It is understood that legal proceedings will probably bo the result. It is understood that Mr Evett has communicated with the Auckland Bating Club, declining to hold the post of handicapper on the amended terms sub - mitted to him. H.M.S. Opal left early this morning for Samoa. She will thence proceed to the New Hebrides and oa to Sydney.
