Mr Peter Williams (for Friedlander Bros.) reports for the week ending Tuesday, 23rd August, 1887 :— Cn Baturday, 20th mat., we held our weekly sale of horses. The entry was not large, only 5 horaea were entered. We sold at the following prices : — k irst-claes draughts, £26, f 29 ; medium, £17 10a : hiok, £8 10s. We bog to oall special attention to our sale of Mr Gawn's horses for Saturday next. Poultry.— Fowls, 2s to 2s 6d per pair. Produce — Potatoes, 36s to 42s per ton ; flour, 18s 6d per bag ; oatmeal, 3s 6d per bag ; bran, 4s 6d per bag ; apples, 3d to 3Jd per lb ; cheese, 3sd per lb ; primo mutton, 2d per lb ; bacon, 4£d per In ; hams, 5d per Jb ; caroase pork, 2d to 3d per lb ; beef, 2d to 2£d per lb : onions, Id to Ud per lb. ' We also sold on account of Mr Alpheus Hayes black pine firewood, m short lengths, 26s to 30s; manuka, 36s per cord.
