DEPGTATION. Messrs Hugo Friedkinder (agent for Mr Buholz), and Mr Wilson, Interview Jd the j Board, and requested that the reßolutkm passed at tho annual meeting of ratepayers, having reference to the opening up of a road through Mr Jamieaon's property, be given effect to, They considered they were only making a reasonable demand, and pointed oat the hardship some of the settlers were put to. ■• The deputation were informed of the petition jist presented, also the letter from the Council. Mr Frieellander considered it would be as well to wait and Bee the result of the interview between the Counoil and the Board, provided the Board would express an opinion consenting to the opening of the new road if the River Bead was not pat In order. The deputation then withdrew. Clause 2 of the Surveyor's report having been read it was resolved on the motion of Mr Brown, eeoonded by Mr Ope, l( That the matter stand m abeyanoe till next meeting." surveyor's report. The Surveyors submitted their monthly report as follows :— (1) Fairfield Road.— The re-formation and metalling of this road is just upon completion, the contraot time expired on May 16th. Considerable delay has Tbeen caused by wet weather; (2) River Road. — We have made a thorough examination' of this road from the protective works downwards with the exception of three places. We think there fs not muoh danger to be apprehended from the river ; the willows previously planted arc doing well, and are not likely to be shifted. There is no doubt but that they have done good service. TJie plaoes m danger arc (Ist), just below the bulwork (2nd), opposite Rural Seotion 7187 (3rd), about 10 chains further down, the first of whioh we consider the most dangerous. Any work at this point oould be well performed now, as there is very littla water to oontend with. We have interviewed the member representing the Riding, asking if the County Counoil contemplate carrying out the suggestion made by the Proteotira Works Committee some time ago, of lengthening the bulwork with a wire groin, and he has promised to bring the matter forward. The other placis, we consider, will not require muoh more than the planting of willows, or perhaps a small protective work; anyhow, we consider the present a most favorable one to oarry out any works ; (3) Maintenance.— The maintenance man has been engaged during the month on works on Cprbett's, Milton, and Beach Road. His diary is on the table. The report was adopted. SEAFIBLO ROAD AND OTHERS. ; | 3 he Surveyor was dlrecled'to have the sldta of the crown of the roads where high ploughed out.
