UNREGISTERED DOGS. GK Cole and F. Lowe (2), were fined 10s for being the owners of unregistered dogs. A charge against Jas.Ooohrane was dismissed, he proving that the dog was regie* tered, DRIVING ACROSS FOOTPATHS. G. James was charged with driving a horse and cart across the footpath inCass street. It appeared that the road m question at the point wore the offence was committed was man almost impassable condition, and ihe police did not press for a penalty. Tha Magistrate, under the oircumstances, dismissed the case, remarkI ing that the Borough authorities had by their delatorinoes m this instance contributed to the infringement of the bylaw. " ILL-TREATING HOUSES. T. Walkias was charged with ill-treat-ing threo horses by working them while suffering from sore shoulders. J. Butt was charged with similarly illtreating one horse. Both the defendants admitted the offenca. The Magistrate having examined the horses, fined Watkins £7 and costs, with • the alternative of one month's imprisonment, and Butt 40a and costs, m default 10 days imprisonment. * oivil case. " Baylis v. Magee— Claim £22 3s 4d. Mr Oathbertson for plaintiff. Judgment by default for amount claimed. The Court then rose.
