CORN EXCHANGE
1 The following is the Corn Exohange report for the week ending Friday, 29th inst :~ The grain markets have not been particularly brisk, but prices are steady, and m Barley the tona Is firm. Considerable shipments continue to be made, both to the European markets and for intercolonial requirements. Threshing operations are now nearly completed for the season and farmers are very busy taking up their potato oropa, whloh, so far as can be gathered, are yielding below the average returns. Wheat buyers ate still anxloua to buy at late quotations but it is impossible to establish an advance. Tuscan, when m prime condition, commands 33 sii to 3a 6d, and Psarl is eoaght after at 3j sd. Hunters White fetoheß 3s 4d to 3a 4£3 ; Second quality and chicken whe>t ari> both enquired at 3a to 3s 2d and 2j 9i to 2s lid respectively, the latter being very scare?. Oats shew no sign of recovery m value excepting prime milling, wlrch are scares and command la 9ii to 1b 10 1 ; shortf aed are plentiful and dull at Is 8i to la 91 ; lonzand Inferior kinds quiet at 13 6d to 1 la7d. Babley— Maltaiers are anxious to puri chase prime lots but they are scarce and are worth 3s 8i to 33 9i ; good malting parcels are fetching 33 4d to 3 3 6d, and second quality is rather more difficult to quit at 2§ 93 to 3s ; feed lines are worth 2a 3d to 2a 6i Gkass Seed la very dull and prices of j last week are nominal. Cocksfoot has , he a had limited business at 3£d to 3|3 t for farmer's; bright seed machine dressed is worth 4d. ' Beans are enquired for at 23 91 to 2b 1 lid, and Peaa, Blue Prussians," clean and ■ true to name, at 3a 3d to 3) 6d ; feed lines 1 are selling at 2j 8i to 2s 9d. 1 Dkrwjbkt Potatoes are not quite easy to quit, and growera are more dfspc sed to quit. The yield is reported to be under 1 th%t anticipated. We quote 27a to 283 at 1 country Stations; 1 Dairy Produce ia quiet and with no : improvement m value. 3 The above prices are those paid to farmers and delivered f o.b Lyttelton. . .
