WEST COAST PROSPECTORS.
Qbbtmouth, April 9. Kirk and party, who left Dunedin some two months ago for Milford Sound with a whaleboat and miner's tools, and ■Ix months' provisions, have jnst oalled at the "Greymouth EvenlDg Star " offics to give an acoount of their two months' search. The complain loudly of having been misled, and desire to warn others from following their example. The ground whioh they were informed was auriferoub Is situated about fifteen miles north of Milford Sound. This ground tbey thoroughly proepeoted wlthont soarcely finding a oolor. They then proepeoted the ground oooupied by Sutherland and party, and fonnd ten inches of wash dirt carrying here and there a mere oolor on ihe bottom of the reef, and about the best prospeot they could find wae about one grain*, to tbe dish, and this only after many trials. They described tbe country as' very rough and difficult, and desire to warn the people of Dunedin against pro- ( eeedtng to that locality.
