DISMISSAL OF A MAJOR
Wellington, April 9 On Thursday last, lt was cffi.ially reported to the Minister for Defence that Major Garner, officer m command of the Volunteer a m the Hawke's Bay district, had, while In a state of intoxication, assaulted a Volunte.r m uniform. The Minister took steps to assartain the truth or otherwise of the report, and found it to be quite oorrect. The Governor will, therefore, be recommended to dismiss Major Garner frora the force. '
