OUTBREAK OF A GEYSER

Auckland, January 12. News hai reached Kotorua of the outbreak of a powerful geyser m the vicinity of the Poeakoa Range, on the Jtiotoreka Plains, within a mile or so of the Waiokakaki settlement. Volumes of boiling mud have been thrown up, and the plain for several acres around the geyser was covered with ejected matter. Loud explosions and an earthquake acoompanied the breaking out of the geyser. Some thirty years ago Dr FTochetetter predicted a volcanic outbreak at this point, which would cause the subsidence of the Rotoreka Plains.
