A SPLENDID BRIDE CAKE.
At a recent wedding reception at which some of the members of the new English Cabinet figured as relatives and honored ?u nts, the bride’s cake was a simply magnificent structure—eight tiers, each varying in the style of ornamentation. The cake rested on a elver plateau, with handsome 61 <gree w rk reaching slantwise fmm the plateau to the cloth of blue v»lv-t, or plush, covered with lace. Three double (ertwined) horseshoes were on the u <r"‘ht rim of the first tier, amid a gronpinv of fern leaves, in white sugarw rk. On the top was an artistic grouping of the two families’ shield, crests, etc , and the new quartering dinar *d by the marriages. The shields were about 8 inches ong, the crest at their pedeiest point 2 inches long The next tie's repreaen’ed “ The Seven Age* of]VL>ti,” founded on Shakespere’s lines On the top was an old woman nnralng a babe
