THE BANK DEFAULTER. Melbourne, October 16. The rumor that defalcations have occurred on the part of an official in one of the Banks is now confirmed. The defaulter is one of the tellers in the Bank of Australasia. His defalcations amount to ■£ rooo. NEW GOLDFIELD. Adelaide, Oe ober 16. The report of a payable goldfield having been discovered at Wankringa is fully confirmed. One digger obtained a pound weight of gold in a week. A hundred and fifty men are now on the field. ADELAIDE MARKETS. Wheat, 5s to 5s id; flour, town brands, £\\ 5s to £\\ 15s; country, ;£io las 6d to 15s. PAYMENT OF MEMBERS. Hobart, October 16. The Tasmanian Legislative Assembly has passed a Bill providing for the payment of members. OBITUARY. Melbourne. October 18 Obituary—Ogg, one of the Victorian Railway Commissioners. WANTED. A warrant has been issued for the arrest ofStodart Campbell, teller of the Bank of Australasia, whose defalcations are known to be nearly £2OOO. He has disappeared, and is supposed to have committed suicide.
