Wellington, Jane 18.
In the House this afternoon the Municipal Corporations Bill and Justices of the Peace Bill were read a third time and passed. An Imprest Supply Bill for £25,000 was introduced and passed through all its stages. The Gold Duties Abolition passed through Committee and was reported with an amendment.
The debate on the second reading of the Midland Railway Bill commenced, but was interrupted by the 5.30 adjournment. The Pacific Islands adjourned debate stands first on the Order Paper for the evening sitting, but is not unlikely to bo postponed, the Government having suggested this coarse m view of recent telegrams.
At the evening sitting, Pir R. Stout made his annual Educational Statement, which was of an exceedingly able and interesting nature. The debate on .the Pacific Islands resolutions was then resumed, and is now (9.55 p.m.) proceeding.
