SOUTH RAKAIA ROAD BOARD
The annual meeting of ratepayers of the South Rakaia Road Board District was held at the Board’s office on Saturday, There was only a small attendance, and Mr E. S. Coster occupied the chair. The balance sheet for the year was read and adapted, and the Chairman gave a brief resume of ihe work done by the Board. —Mr Windsor moved, and Mr Haslett seconded, “ That this meeting enter a protest against the whole cost of the Boundary Road, at the village settlement being charge! to settlement fand, as the Road Board had promised to pay half cost of forming the road.”—As an amendment Mr Cox moved, and Mr Allan seconded, “That all the words after “funds" be expunged from the motion.” The amendment was carried,and the motionas amended adopted by the meeting. It was resolved, on the motion of Mr Windsor, that the incoming Board should be requested to induce the Government to pay over monies in connection with the sale of village settlement sections with as little delay as possible It was resolved that the district should be divided Into wards, an i on the motion of Mr Hardy, a cardial vote of thanks was accorded to the members of the retiring Board. The proceedings then terminated.
