MOUNT SOMERS ROAD BOARD.

The annual meeting of ratepayers of ihe M ount Somers Road District washeldattho Road Board office, Mount Somers, on Saturday. There was a fair attendance, and the Chairman of the Board, Mr A. E. Peache, presided. The Chairman read the usual statements of accounts and report. In reply to Mr Kdaon, Mr Walker said he had received a telegram from Government on the previous day stating that the contract fur the Mount Somers railway extension was signed on April 24 Mr Walker said complaints bad been made with regard to the manner in which the cenans papers had been distributed in the Mount Somers District; ha would be glad to learn if these complaints were well founded. Four ratepayers present stated that they had received no census papers, and others were reported to be in the same position. It was resolved, on the motion of Mr Edson, “ That the Chairman make a representation to the proper authorities of the irregular and incomplete manner in which the census has been taken in this district.”—On the motion of Mr Hood, seconded by Mr Edson, the report and balance sheet were adopted. Votes of thanks to the Chairman and to the past members of the Board concluded the proceedings,
