SPORTING.
W AIM ATE STEEPLECHASES. A Steeplechase Meeting for hunters was held on Mr M. Studholme’s homestead, Waimate, yesterday, under the auspices of the throe Hunt Clubs of South Canterbury, as a wind up to the hunting season. There was a good attendance of members of the Clubs and friends, but not many of the general public. The meeting was very successful. The weather was pleasant and the fields pretty .good. The jumping on the whole was excellent, and, though a few spills, no one was hurt. There was no betting, but a totalisator was patronise to the extent of L 430 during the day.
