Volunteer Complications. Oamahu, To-day.
The indefinite nature of the Order-in-Counoil rc the new volunteer regulations has led to a difficulty hero. On Thursday the artillery and the rifles fire for the cup given by Mr Shrimski, M.H.K., and Captain Creagh (of the artillery) has given written notice to Captain Headland that he objects to bandsmen of the rifles firing in the team, holding that the new regulations are now in force, and that under them the band became a garrison band. Captain Creagh is a lawyer, and threatens to persist in his objection, ard as Captain Headland is equally persistent complications are likely to arise unless the point bo pot beyond dispute. Fire at a Sailmaker’s. Dunedin, To-day.
A fire occurred on the sailmaking premises of Thomson and Owen, Castle street, last night. The firm w'ere insured in the Hamburg Company for L2OO.
