[per reuter’s agency.] Sugar. Melbourne, Saturday. Mauritius advices of the 10th inst. are to hand. No vessels have cleared for Australia since last report. Sugar making is retarded owing to wet weather, and the season’s crop will probably be very late. It is expected, however, that a fair supply will be available next month. V.R.C. Grand National Meeting. The steeplechase meeting under the auspices of the Victorian Racing Club, took place to-day. The Grand National Race was won by Rhesus, Lothair second, and Albion third. Fourteen started. For the Grand National Steeplechase, Great Western finished first, with Chrysalis second, and Breechloader third. Ten faced the starter, and the race resulted in a most exciting finish. Probable Dissolution. Melbourne, To-day. The Hon. F. S, Dobson, speaking at a dinner on Saturday night, hinted at the early dissolution of Parliament in the event of Mr Mirams persisting in his opposition to the Land Bill now before the Assembly. Suez and Brindisi Mails. Melbourne, Yesterday. Arrived, this evening—P. and O. Co.’s steamship Ravenna, with the English mails, via Suez and Brindisi, dated London, June 16.
