THE OAMARU TRAGEDY.
[by telegraph.] Oamaru, To-day. The inquest on the body of Sarah Adams, found in the creek near Papakaio, on the 2nd inst., commenced at Peebles this afternoon. Evidence was ■dven of Beattie’s having about the time of the woman’s disappearance left bloodstained razor with the local hotelkeeper, saying bis wife had been cutting fowls’ necks with it, and asking the hotelkeeper to clean it. He had been at the hotel about the time of the woman’s disappearance and remained all night, and the hotelkeeper said he had heard Beattie had gone out of the hotel during the night, but could not say positively.
