At a Volunteer gathering last night, a resolution was carried requesting Colonel Staveley to call a public meeting of Volunteers and citizens, to consider the advisability of having the next meeting of the New Zealand Rifle Association in or near Dunedin. Food for the Flames. Invercargill, To-day. A four-roomed cottage in the suburb of Strathearne, owned by D. Fairweather, and occupied by one Pennefather, was burned down yesterday. It was insured for LIOO, and the furniture for Ll5O, the latter in the Colonial office. The adjoining building, owned by one Rogers, was considerably damaged, but the loss is covered by insurance in the Hanseatic office.
