EXHIBITION SWINDLERS.

[by telegraph.] Christchurch, To-day.

At the Magistrate’s Court this morning William Anderson, alias Price, was charged with stealing a hair-brush from the Exhibition. Ho was also charged, in conjunction with Edward Longmore, alias George Adams, alias Elms, alias Elsdale, with having committed several burglaries in High street, on the night of April 21, or morcing of April 22. Sergeant Mason said he was compelled to apply for a week’s remand. The two prisoners had evidently some connection with the man who had shot at Mr Deans. The whole three had been seen about the Riccarton Bush in company near the spot where the stolen property had recently been found by the poilce. The police were not prepared to proceed with the case at present, and could not do so, in fact, till the third man referred to was in custody. The Bench remanded the prisoners to June Ist.
