Melbourne, Yesterday. Arrived, this morning—Rotorua, from the Bluff. In Quarantine.

The following are the names of the New Zealand saloon passengers, per Garonne, who are in quarantine here:— For Port Chalmers—Mr Butterworth, Misses Butterworth, Mr and Mrs Anderson, Mr Lamberton, Mr F. Cobon, Mr and Mrs Thompson, Mr Lyell; for Auckland—Mr Wishborne, Rev. Ryan, Master Walton ; for Lyttelton— Mr Newlyn, Mr Spence, Mr Capp, Mrs Capp; for Taranaki—Mr Barclay; for Napier—Mr Lyndon, Mr Twigg ; for Wellington—Rev. Green. Suez Mails. Arrived, this evening—P. and O. Company’s steamship Khedive, with the Suez mails, dated London, ist December. One More. Mr James Henty, a well-known merchant of this city, died suddenly to-day. Hopeful. All the small-pox patients at the quarantine station are progressing favourably. No fresh cases have occurred. The Sydney Cup. Sydney, Yesterday. Forty-six horses have been entered for the Sydney Cup, to be run for in Easter week. Again in Quarantine. The Orient Company’s steamship Garonne arrived here to-day, and has been ordered into quarantine.

The Wakatipu. Sydney, To-day. Arrived, last evening—Union Co.’s s.s. Wakatipu, from Wellington. Unopposed.

Sir John Robertson, who was recently appointed Minister of Lands, and who acts as Colonial Secretary in the absence of Sir Henry Parkes, has been returned unopposed for Mudgee, where he was yesterday received with great enthusiasm. The vacancy in the representation of the electorate was caused by the appointment of Mr S. H. Terry to the Legislative Council. The Africa. The Russian war ship Africa sails hence to-morrow for Hobart and Melbourne. Believers in Immigration. Brisbane, Yesterday. It has transpired that the Queensland Government has decided to apply to Parliament for an increased vote for immigration purposes.
