In the Legislative Assembly last night, Sir Henry Parkes, Premier, made a lengthy statement regarding his ap preaching visit to England. He stated that he undertook the same solely on account of ill-health, but that while in America he would interview the United States Government and endeavor to obtain free admission of Australian wool to America. All the Colonial Governments, except Victoria, had authorised him to act on their behalf in this matter. Sir Henry further announced that lie would, acting in concert with New Zealand, do his utmost to obtain an American contribution towards the subsidy for the San Francisco mail service. While in London he intended to re-arrange the system of emigration to New South Wales. Parliament would be prorogued between February and June, and in the latter month he expected to return to the colony. In his absence his _ duties would be performed by his colleagues, and his journey would cost the colony nothing.
