The Union Company’s handsome trophy which was won by the City Guards team at Nelson last year, has been fired for by the individual members in a series of competitions. The trophy had to be won by the members first securing 21 points. Volunteer Provo, with 19 points, claims 2 disputed points in consequence of one man who held a prominent position, being disqualified. The match committee refused to allow the protest, and law proceedings are threatened. Barron Back Again. Mr Barron was re-elected for Caversham without opposition. A Strange Suicide. ;E. Dela Perelle, an old resident at Arrow, has committed suicide. He set fire to a building on his farm, and then shot himself. After the fire was extintinguished hia body was found shockingly burned. He leaves a wife and three young children.
