Christchurch, To-day.

At the Christchurch Police Court this morning, Lotti Wilmot was charged with using abusive language to Mr G. N. Moon, Secretaiy of the Papanui Town Hall Company, and with assaulting Mr Moon with a supple-jack The facts of the case were that Madame Wilmot was going to lecture at the Papanui Hall at 7 o’clock, and a great many visitors arrived from Christchurch by tram to hear her. Some dissatisfaction was expressed by the visitors at the lecture not at once commncing, as they were anxious to to get back to Christchurch by the return tram. Seeing the people waiting, Lotti went to Mr Moon and asked him to give her the key of the hall. The Secretary said she should have it at 8 o’clock, and not before, whereupon madame became semewhat abusive, and finally administered a little gentle correction to Mr Moon with a supple-jack. Having heard the evidence the Bench inflicted fines of one shilling for the abusive language and L 5 for the assault with the stick, and ordered the defendant to pay the costs in both cases, amounting to L 5 10s, the total amount demanded of Lotti being Lions.
