RESIDENT MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
ASHBURTON.— Friday, June 24. ' (Before Mr N. Wood, R.M.) Drunkenness. —M. Warren, charged with drunkenness, was fined ss, or, in default, sentenced to twenty-four hours’ imprisonment. Larceny. —John Bell was charged with stealing a bridle and breastplate, of the value of 30s. Sei’geaut Felton stated that Mr Compton had left his horse outside the Methven Hotel last Sunday. On coming out he discovered that the bridle an,d breastplate'were gone. They were found in possession of the prisoner. Prisoner pleaded guilty, but said he was drunk at the time. He was sentenced to one month’s imprisonment in Addington gaol. civil cases. Broad v. Dunlop. Claim for L 25 18b 9d. Mr Purnell for plaintiff. Mr O’Reilly for defendant, consented to judgment, -blit asked for lintel as the 1 goods were partly for defendant’s brother, who-was absent from the district at present. Mr Purnell objected, as the defendant was about to leave the colony. Order for amount, with L 4 costs. Cooper Bros. v. Wood. Claim for H2 4s. - ‘ No appearance of defendant. I Order for amount, with LI Is costs. The Court then adjourned.
