(Per Press Association.) Australia v- Wellington. Wellington, To-day. The cricket match, Australians v. Wellington, started this morning. The day was dull, with a fresh southerly breeze. Wellington won the toss, and elected to go in. Kennedy and Brown were the first to handle the willow to the trundling of Spofforth and Palmer, the former taking the first over, off which there was no score. When Brown had scored 7 he drove a ball back to Spofforth, which was accepted. 15—1—7. Speed filled the vacancy. At the adjournment tor lunch the score stood at 43, the highest not out being Blacklock, who had obtained 9 when lunch was called. Things Dramatic. Dunedin, To-day. Mr. W. H. Reynolds’ benefit attracted the largest house seen in Dunedin for years, the building being densely packed. He announced that he had just received a cablegram from Mr. J. C. Williamson, closing for an early appearance here with the Juvenile “Pinafore” Company.
