The following horses have been scratched for the Melbourne Gup : Columbus, Geraldine, and Stag. Taking Care of No. 1. In the Legislative Assembly Mr. Service made severe attacks on the Hon. Mr. Berry for the appointment of his son to a position in the Civil Service from which he had been removed by the Service Ministry, the same being much commented upon. Another Reform Bill. Melbourne, To-day. In the Legislative Council last niyht a Bill was introduced by Sir Charles Sladin, one of the members of Council, for a reform of the Constitution. It was read a second time. Exhibition Visitors. Melbourne is now thronged with visitors from the country districts and neighboring colonies and New Zealand. Mr. Service’s Successor. It is reported that Mr. Mr -ray Smith will lead the Opposition in the Assembly after the departure of Mr. Service for England.
