President's Message
Dear Friends— My very loving and hearty good wishes to you all. May 1947 be for all of us a year of much encouragement and many opportunities for service. It will, and of necessity must, be a year of steady, unflinching battle with all that threatens to dim, or to hold back, the well-being of our wonderful country.
1946 brought us Imtli happiness and disappointment, but not enough of the latter to give us cause to feel “beaten” in our fight against “this king of evil,” generally known as the “liquor trade." The results of the 1946 Liquor Poll cannot be regarded as other than a challenge to renew our efforts, to Degin at once on our educational work
Let ns go to meet opportunities of service, not wait until they have almost passed and we have to run in an endeavour to catch their disappearing 'kirts. Remember the old saying, “One volunteer is worthy twenty pressed men.”
W e look toward our 1947 gathering in Auckland, in March, with high hope and expectation of the good ihat • will ari*e from our suggestions and discussions. The chief thought of each delegate, and of the Union sending her, will he “What can I bring to Convention?” The greatest gitts we can bring, are, I think, Faith (sec Luke 18:1). Hope, Charity, or love (see 1 Cor. Id: 13). So shall we have an understanding and sympathy with each other which cannot fail to help us through the work of the \ear.
May oiir Father so help u* to strive to achieve that state of Divine goodness which shall make each one of us fit to carry out His purpose for us. May 1 suggest that we carry these words in our hearts throughout this year:—-“Be of good courage and He shall strengthen your heart." Vours sincerely, C. E. KIRK. Dominion President.
