UNION LETTER-WRITING

In many of our monthly reports we hear that special letters ha\e hecn written as from the Union. What a kind, sisterly custom this is. How farreaching it is in its consequences would he very hard to compute. \\ hen sickness, bereavement, or other trouhie ha* come to a member, il is a great comfort to know that she ha* been remembered in our pray ers and thoughts at our meeting, and, equally, when some very pleasant tiling has happened, a delightful feeling <»t “belonging" is caused by a note of congratulation. More is done by this simple means than appears on the surface, and we are making a special feature of the reports sent in, giving details of such friendly interest in each other as is shown in this wav.

W anganui Union sent letters of sympathy to the relatives of their imuliKn ed member, Mrs. Hi instead, w hose passing they mourn, and also to those of Mrs. (irigg of Aratnolio, and Miss Mary Jones, of Wanganui Hast. Palmerston North sent a letter of cheer to Mrs. Mclvor. a member who was suffering from eye trouble, and a letter of thanks to Mrs Edwards, of National Park, for her valuable help in distributing parcels of clothing to needy Maoris of the district. Poiisonby made a point of writing to sick members. Kobi-St. Hcliers sent flowers and a letter of sympathy to Mrs. (\ Phillips, who is in hospital. That many other unions have carried out this kindly duty is certain. We hope to hear from them about it.
