WELCOME TO NEW MEMBERS.

The follow ing beautiful service is used in U.S.A. to welcome new members. It could be read say once a quarter or every six months in our Unions, and all new members then be initiated. It has been slightly altered to suit conditions in our Dominion. All members gained since the last service are brought l>efore the President, who thus addresses them: “The Women s Christum Temperance Union is a body of Christian women, pledged total abstainers and banded together for the protection of the home, for the promotion of purity, for the destruction of the liquor traffic and for the final triumph of the Golden Rule of Christ in custom and in law. Do you subscribe to the pledge of the W.C.T.U. Union, which is: ‘1 hereby solemnly' promise, Gold helping me, to abstain from all intoxicating liquors, including wine, beer, and cider, and to employ all proper means to discourage the use of and traffic in the same.’ ” Response: “I do.” President: “The W.C.T.U. Union reaches out into every line of service in the home, social or civic life, and touches every spring of action that can be correlated for humanity’s good. Its scope is as wide as the universe and limited onlyl by humanity’s need. Its motto, ‘For God and Home und Every Land’ holds within its compass all that makes life worth living. True to its God-given mission, the W.C.T.U. has consistently pursued its *Do everything’ policy. Years of educational labour stretch before us ere total abstinence is accepted by the masses of the people as the only safe rule of life. “We hope your fellowship with the W.C.T.U. may be so enjoyable that there may be a growing appreciation of the work accomplished, sc that you may remain a devoted member until your life's close. The White Ribbon is the badge of our organisation. As members of the W.C.T.U. we love and wear the white ribi)on bo/’.’ Response: “It is the l>eautiful budge of our organisation, heaver-born to promote a holy cause.” President: “It is a blessed bond of fellowship among our members.” Response: “It proclaims our faith in the ultimate triumph of Prohibition.” All: “Let us wear the white ribbon and follow its gleam.”

The bow is pinred on ea.h new member, the President and other officers welcome them with the right hand of fellowship. Then all sing “All Round the World the Ribbon White is Twined.”
