TEOTI TIMOTI KARETAI One of the best-known Maori personalities of Otago, Mr Teoti Timoti Karetai passed away last September. A descendant of the chief Karetai, he was upoko runanga at Otakou and chairman of trustees of the local hall and church. As a young man he was a lighthouse keeper, later he had his own farm at Cape Saunders. In the vital period of transition between ancient and modern days, Teoti Karetai played a vital part.
