HIRINI WHAANGA CHRISTY A prominent member of the Ngati Kahungunu tribe, Mr Hirini Whaanga Christy, of Nuhaka, died recently, aged 73. On the arrival of the Mormons at Nuhaka, Mr Christy accepted that faith, later going to Salt Lake City in the United States, where he studied. While there he married a member of the Nga Puhi tribe. Mr Christy played a prominent part in the progress of his district. He is survived by his wife and a large family.
