WHARE MIKA Mr Whare Mika has died at the age of 62. For the last 21 years he was chief guide at Wairakei. There he guided thousands of people over Geyser Valley, including many noted overseas visitors. Before going to Wairakei he was for 15 years with the Maori Land Board office in various parts of the North Island. He was a prominent member of the Tuhourangi sub-tribe of Te Arawa. He served with the Maori Battalion during World War I.
