REV. HEMI HUATA The death occurred at his home at Wairoa of one of the oldest ministers of the Anglican Church, the Rev. Hemi Pititi Huata. He was aged 87. The Rev. Huata for over 60 years worked actively in the service of the Church, and he continued this work until just a few years ago. He was educated at Te Aute College and Te Rau College, where he studied to enter the Church. His father was one of the early Maori Anglican ministers, and a son, Canon Wi Huata, M.C., a padre with the Maori battalion in Italy, is now serving in the Waikato Diocese. The Rev. Hemi Huata was also a great authority on Maori history.
