Mrs. Schramm was born in Rotterdam, and received
her training there and in Berlin, With her husband, she hs spent the past 4% years in Batavia, where she established herself as a piano teacher, and was, in fact, the first teacher of this instrument there. Miss Soetermeer comes of a family of artists, her paternal grandfather having been a Dutch painter of note. She has travelled extensively, and speaks excellent English, in addition to fluent German, Dutch and Malay,
