"Classical Music Didn't Exactly Romp Home"
To the Editor. . Sir,-The letter in the latest "Radio Record" signed by J. D. Parkin is the choicest example of mean-mindedness I have seen for years. If His proposal is to be taken seriously, I am sure that this idea of his would not be any more unjust than if the supporters of dance musie presented a petition requesting that the broadcast of classical music be confined to the classical "hour." The big drawback to this proposal, of course, is that if this were done there would be hardly any programmes left. Mr, Parkin seems to neglect the fact that classical music didn’t exactly romp home in the lead in his beloved straw vote. Mr. Parkin cannot be blamed for "condemning jazz. I’m glad that he is leaving dance music alone.-T am. ofr.
