Materials: 40z. Azalea erochet wool (blue), 1 pair No, 9 needles, 1 pair No.. 12 needles, $ doz. small pearl buttons, elastic and domes. Measurements: Length, 18 inches; wdith, 18 inches; width (at waist), 114 inches; length of sleeve, 9 inches. Abbreviations: K., knit; P., purl;-tog. together; st., stitch; sl. slip; d.c, double crochet. Cast on 45 stitches. Knit 10 rows stocking stitch (K. 1 row, P. 1 row). To form the hem K, first st. on needle with second st. of.foundation. K. second st. on needle with second st. of foundation. .K. each st. in this way. Cast on 80 sts., break off wool, and push ets. to end of needle.
On the other needle cast on 45 sts. and work 10 rows stocking stitch. Join to the cast on sts., and K. the hem as before. The frant is worked exactly as the back till the arm-hole is reached. Cast off 3 sts., K. 35, turn. 2 and all even rows, K. 4, P. remaining sts. 8, 5 and 7, K. 2 tog., K. remaining sts, Work 24 rows without decreasing, keeping all even rows as the second. K. 1 row. 8 rows without decreasing. wreak off wool, Join wool in centre. Pick up and K. 8 sts. under the garter stitch in front. This forms the placquet. Work to correspond with other front, keeping the 3 garter sts. for placquet, and casting off 8 sts. and decreasing 8 times at sleeve end. Graft the shoulder seams. front on to back. (If preferred, stitches may be cast off and sewed neatly). Sleeves: Cast on 58 stitches. Wofk in stocking stitch, knitting tog. the fir-t 2 sts. and last2 sts; on each 10th row. When 8 inches long, change to No. 12 needles and K. 1, P, 1, for 20 rows. Cast off. Collar; Qast on 80 stitches,

Press carefully on wrong side, under a damp cloth. Sew side-seams, taking care to leave hem open. At bottom opening make a crochet band for domes,. Commence at right hand, at end of hem, being careful to leave hem open; and make 7 d.c. in ench st. across to left hand hem. Turn with 1 chain, and work 1 d.c. in each st. Repeat this row, and break off wool. Work: front to match. Thread elastic through hems, and sew on domes, making the front-fasten on to the back. Sew dome at neck, and sew on buttons, Embroider a flower spra ywith coloured wool- on left hand front. Double-back. suff. .
