EEE Plans for Improved Programmes DEFINITH announcement has been made by Mr. ©. B. Hansen, principal of station 2ZH, Napier, regarding the new broadcasting arrangements that have been made for Hawke’s Bay. This will be of interest to all radio enthusiasts in the. district, more particularly because of recent reports that have been spread to the effect that now the responsibility of providing entertainment for six days, a week has been placed on one station, that the quality of the entertainment will fall below that providéd previously by the several] B class stations in the district, 2ZH wishes to deny emphatically these rumours, ang points out that now all the evening’ programmes are provided from oné source preparations will be made for the transmission of the best possible class of entertainment. The transmissions wil] incorporate the latest recordings, at least one studio programme per week, and appropriate relays of local events as may be available. Definite times will be allotted to cater for the various tastes of listeners, such as set hours for heavier and lighter . recordings. On Saturday evenings a 2-hour dance session will be provided. To make the service 100 per cent. efficient the station: will appreciate suggestions of a helpful nature from listeners. The ultimate aim is to present transmissions which will .appeal to every section of the listening community. The station must not be considered as purely local to Napier, as it jis intended to maké it provincial in both its scope of programme and its district coverage, it being appreciated that the reception in this district of the YA stations, for topographical reasons, is not very satisfactory, The complete schedule of transmission, which commenced on September 11, is as follows :- Sunday: 12 noon to 3 p.m., 6.30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday: 12 noon to 2 p.m., 7 p.m. to 10.80 p.m. Tuesday: 12 noon to 2 pm., 7 p.m, to 10.80 p.m. Wednesday: 12 noon to 2"p.m., 6.30 p.m. to 10.30 pm. Thursday: 12 noon to 2 pm, Friday: 12 noon to 2 pm, 7 p.m. to 10.20 p.m. © Saturday; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., 7 p.m to 11 p.m.
