EXTENDED HOURS FROM YA STATIONS

Continuous Service from lO a.m. Daily

S$ indicated in last week’s issue of the "Radio Record," arrangements have now been finalised for an extension of the broadcasting hours from 1YA, 3YA and 4YA, bringing these stations into line with 2YA. An official statement to this effect was made by the Radio Board last week. The increase in hours from 1YA will come into force as from Monday, September 5, and a week later, on Monday, September 12, 3YA and 4YA. will observe the ew schedule.

HW day’s activities at each station, excepting Saturday and Sunday, will be commenced with a brief devotional service, the times of presentation being as follow :- 1¥A, Auckland ...... 10.0 am. 2YA, Wellington ..... 10.80 a.m. 8YA, Christchurch ... 10.0 a.m. 4YA, Dunedin ....... 10.15 a.m. Yn future there will be no silent days from any of the stations, and listeners will have a daily broadcast service from each of the stations from 10 a.m. till 10 p.m., or 11 p.m. on the evenings when dante sessions are broadcast, with the exception dof Saturdays and Sundays, when the existing -schedule will be maintained for the time being. The afternoon sessions which hitherto have terminated at 4.380 p.m. from 1YA, SYA and 4YA, will in future be extended till 5 p.m., listeners thus being given a practically continuous service from 10 a.m. each day.

Dance Sessions Re-arranged. Tan extension of the hours from 1YA, 3YA and 4YA has enabled the evening programmes to be arranged so that from the date the extended service comes into operation, there will be a dance session from at least one of the Board’s stations on every evening of the week except Sunday. The dance sessions from the four stations will in future be as follows :- Monday: 2YA, Wellington .... 10.0-11 p.m. 4YA, Dunedin ...... 10.0-i1 p.m. Tuesday : 1YA, Auckland ..... 10.0-11 p.m. 8YA, Christchurch .. 9.80-11 p.m. Wednesday : 1YA, Auckland ..... 9,380-1i p.m. SYA, Christchurch .. 10.0-i11 p.m. Thursday : 4YA, Dunedin ...... 9.30-1i p.m. Wriday: 2YA, Wellington .... 9.80-i1 p.m. Saturday : All Stations ........ 10.10-11 p.m.
