N.Z. Short-Wave Club

reer es From the Secretary’s Pen meee

NE of the ‘liveliest meetings of the Wellington branch was held — last week, and so Keen were the various dise.ssions that a demonstration was entirely forgotten until 10.20 p.m. Very generous offers were made to assist with secretarial duties, and arrangements were made that next meeting take the form of a Short Wave Club Conference. Possibly this idea’ could be extended. However, each member will be ‘circularised, and asked to send in ideas and suggestions, as it is now time the club was placed on some kind of a. footing. Though we are accustomed to finding our ideds "cribbed," it is disconcerting to find that a list of stations which is an exact copy of one we recently issued, is now on sale. I would like to warn readers that it is as well to be careful in buying a list which has not the guarantee of the check of bona fide short-wave listeners behind it. Stations ate literally changing from week to week, and there is likely to be confusion. It may be mentioned that the N.Z.S.W.C. does not publish a station list excepting for its members, so that the most reliable guide is the s.w. page in the "Record." . I sympathise with the listener from up north who found his son trying out a 60-watt lamp on his "B" battery. Strange to say, reception was off. Also with the member from Dunedin who thought that short waves would be less expensive than the long ones. A letter to A. B. McDonagh, secretary, N.Z. Short Wave Club, 4 Queen Street, Wellington, will bring you full particu- . lars of our club. . Kia Ora.---Yours. fraternally,
