LSX, Buenos Aires. iD M.B. (‘Timaru) reports hearing LSX, 4s Buenos Aires, 28.98 metres, on Saturday, June 25, from 12.80 to 1.380 p.m. with Spanish music. Reception was very clear, with but little fading. YViIBMO, Venezuela. THE special transmission for New Zea+ land from YV11BMO was heard here on Sunday, but static spoilt reception. Volume at the commencement at 4.80 p.m. was R8, increasing to R5 by 5.30 pm. Signal strength remained fairly steady at R65 till the station closed at 6.25. p.m. Log for Week Ending July 9 _ 1280, Rome, 80 metres: Wednesday Saturday, R4-5 at 8am. Noisy and gushy each day. . KV15, Siberia, 70.1 metres: Unusually about R8-9 after 9 p.m., but static often spoils reception. On Tuesday reception was excellent at R8-9, with some very fine inusic. — HVJ, Vatican City, 50.26 metres: R8&-9 each morning till 6.45 a.m, RV59, Mexico, 50 metres: Best before Y am., usually R9, being weaker later, but still géod till after 8 a.m. W9XF, Chicago, 49.83 metres: Monday, Tuesday, and Saturday, up to R8. but very: noisy. _ W8XAL, Cincinnati, 49.5 metres: Wednesday, R8, but too noisy. This is ‘a common trouble on this band, 49-50 metres. Ws8XAL, Boundbrook, 49.18 metres: Sunday till 4.30 p.m. at R8-9. YVi1BMO, Venezuela, 48.95 metres: Sunday, 4.30 p.m. to 6.25 p.m., special programme for New Zealand; R3 to R5; Statice bad. WSXK, Pittsburgh: 48.86 metres: Wednesday, reaching R9 by closing time at 4 p.m. REN, Moscow, 45.38 metres: Monday, R7-8 at 8 a.m.; Saturday, R9 at 6.45 a.m. to R5 by 7.80 a.m." Radio Maroc, Rabat, 32.26 metres: Monday, quite good at R7 at 7.50 a.m, inereasing to R& at 8.30: a.m., but beeoming gushy. VK3ME, Melbourne, 31.55 metres: Wednesday, excellent at R9 during the evening session. : OXY, Denmark, 31.51 metres: Varies from R2 to RG at 8 am. Tuesday was pest, being R6, but very gushy, at
a.m. KET, California, $1.5 metres: Thurs day, 5.40 p.m., RO with relay from a Californian broadcast station. This station was ot the air for some time, but only broadcasting music and speech at intervals, apparently a test. W2XAF, Schenectady, 31.48 metres: On Sunday at 10.30 p.m,, records were heard at R9, with cally for VK2MB at intervals. Day sessions (our time) reach R8-9 by signing off at 3.30 pm. On Monday, Japinese music was heard from 8 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. Zeesen, Germany, 31.38 metres: This station is not quite up to its usual standard just now: but. often reached R8-9. W1XAZ, Springficld: 31.35 metres: Wednesday was an average day, R3 at 1.30 p.mi, reaching RS8-9 by 2.45 p.m, till closing at 8.30°p.m., with a relay from. the:"Show Boat." Boston. VE2ME, ‘Sydney, 31.28. metres: Sunday, 4.30 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. R9 with an anniversary programme. The. next session was well received,. but not quite so ‘ loud. #The Monday morning session, till 8 a.m.. (new schedule) was the best, being ‘maximum volume with one audio. Volume was too much for an ordinary size room with the receiver "full out." i A, Japan, 30,5 metres" (about): Every evening from about 9.30 p.m. at RO. Tuesday, 8 am., R7, but gushy. Wednesday, till 2 p.m., when they signed off, at R8-9. KKW, Bolinas, 21.77 metres: Monday till about 4.30 p.m., at R8-9. On Tuesdav the well-known Amos and Andy were heard at 2.80, pain reception being ¢xcellent at R9. From 3 p.m, till 3.30 p.m. the programme, which was a special one. it being July 4 in America, was for reception by KGU. Honolulu. Tt consist ed of American national airs, a talk about the negro republic of Liberia, and songs and musie by American composers This programme was rebroadeast by 2YA from about 3.10 p.m. till the finish-3.30 p.m, '
