Auckland Jottings The Congress Hall Band, under Mr. A. Davies, in association with local artists, will provide 1YA’s concert. The band has arranged an attractive pro gramme, During the evening Mr. J. C. Brougham will give the next of his talks about the Freneh Forejgn Legion, this time dealing with open warfare, Wellington Notes A programme of selected recordings will be broadcast this evening, John Robertson, a New Zealand bandsman
Yo who has made good at Home, will contribute two cornet solos, "Il Bacio" and "The Debutante." A comedy sketch, ~The Fourth Form of St. Michael’s," as recorded by Will Hay and his pupils, will also be presented. Christchurch Jottings TALK on books of travel and biographies will be broadcast by Mr. EB. J. Bell, librarian at the Public Library, The vocal portion of the programme will be contributed by the Bdgeware Road Methodist Choir, the winning choir of 1981 competitions. 'The concerted numbers will include "Shep--herd’s Lullaby," "The Lost Chord," "Thanks be to God," and, in keeping with the approaching Waster, excerpts from Maunder’s "Olivet to Calvary." Will be sung as a concluding item. One of the performers on the evening’s programme will be Phyllis Kinnizh, a very talented pianist, who last va ua in the L.A.B. examinations, obthe highest percentage of points in New Zealand. Dunedin Notes The 84th anniversary of the founding of Otago will be celebrated during the afternoon and evening in the Old Settlers’ Hall. 4YA will be on. the air at 2 o’clock to broadcast speeches at the afternoon function, and in the evening will broadcast a concert.
