From Wellington THE subject of 2YA’s "Musical Portrait," to be undertaken by Gor‘don Short (pianist) and Arthur Clark ‘(tenor), is "Modern British Composers." Mr. Clark will include "Crea‘tion Song’ from "The Immortal Hour," by Rutland Boughton, with whom he was associated in London, and a song of his own composition, "The Water
Lily.’ Amy Woodward (soprano) will sing "The Waltz Song" from "Romeo and Juliet," and two songs by Pearl Curran, "Dawn" and "Rain." Mrs. Wilfred Andrews (contralto) will be heard in a group of songs by Chopin, and the famous "Fierce Now the Flames Glow" from "Il Trovatore." The Orchestrina, under Signor A. P. Truda, will play "Schubert’s Sketch Book" ‘and other tuneful numbers.
Items from 3YA "{\HROUGHOUT the afternoon results of the races at Riccarton will be broadcast. S a grand finale to the community singing in Christchurch a monster gathering is to be held in the Civic Theatre. The Woolston Band will be in attendance, and all the song leaders, including Owen Pritchard, of Wellington, who have all contributed to the ‘suecess of the various sings, will take part in the proceedings. «From Dunedin YD Jecturer on 4YA’s International Programme will be Mr. G. C. Billing, Lecturer in Hconomics at Otago University, who will take as his subject "International Trade and New Zealand: Finances."
