items from 1YA "THE evening service conducted in St. David’s Church will be relayed, the preacher being the Rev. Bower Black, of Christchurch, ‘the newly-inducted minister, and the organist, Mr. HB. S. Craston. The studio concert will be provided by the Salon Orchestra, Laetitia Parry .(soprano) and Arthur Ripley (tenor). An interesting item witl be a recital of "A Tale of Old Japan," by Zoe Bartley-Baxter, with incidental musie by the orchestra. Jottings from 2YA HE evening service to be conducted in Trinity Methodist Church, Wellington South, will be relayed, the preacher ‘being: the Rev. T. W. Vealie, the organist Miss Lilian Thawley, J.A.,B., and the choirmaster: Mr.. W. McLellan. Following this broadcast there will be a studio concert, provided by the Guild of Music Makers, comprising ten violins, four violas, four ’cellos, and two double bass. The Guild of Music Makers will play under the conductorship of John Bishop, who will himself play a group of pianoforte pieces. Keith Grant, the popular baritone, will sing a group of songs by Coleridge-Tiy-lor,and "Don Juan’s Serenade," by Tsechaikowsky. ae . Christchurch Notes T 2 p.m. will be broadcast a meet- ‘ ing of the "No More’ War Movenent." The speakers will be the Rey. John A. Allan, M.A., Councillor Mrs. AIecCombs, Rev. W. Rowe, and Mr. ©. H.
‘Cole. Members of the junior Peace League will ‘sing national folk songs and give elocutionary items. At 3 p.m. 8YA will broadcast items by’ massed bands and community singing from the Archery Lawn, . Botanica] Gardens, ‘ Diamond Jubilee services at Oxford Terrace Baptist Church, Christchurch, will be broadcast at 11 a.m. and 6.30 ‘p.m, the preacher on both occasions ‘being Dr. J. J. North, with Mr. Vie. Peters.as choir conductor and Mr. Mel‘Ville Lawry at the organ. The afterchurch concert will feature Mr, and Mrs. I’. W. Simpson in a piano and vocal recital, with introductory com‘ments. The Melody Trio (violin, ’cello, -and piano will provide an instrumental programme. . 4YA Selections HE service to be conducted:in St. Paul’s Anglican Cathedral. by Canon BH. R. Nevill will be relayed. Mr. .E. H. Heywood will be at the organ.. A relay of 8YA’s after-church concert will follow.
