newecereeeet Resolutions Passed A GCOMBINDD meeting of the Wellington branch of the New Zealand Radio Listeners’ League and of the local radio section of the New Zealand Wlectrical Federation was held on Wednesday, August 19. A limited number of listener's were present. The following resolutions were adopted :- (1) "This combined mgeting, representative of radio listenei's and of the radio trading licensees, the two sections which provide all the finance un~der the radio broadcasting scheme, having considered the proposals made by the Radio Broadcasting Company of New Zealand, Ltd., for the future control of broadeasting unanimously resolves i (a) To express entire disapproval of the scheme suggested by the company as published in the Press on August 17, 1981. (b) To call upon the. Government to reject the scheme in its entirety. (4) To oppose any scheme for the future control of broadeasting which involves the inclusion of any element of private ownership. (2) "This meeting further resolves that in its opinion the best and only satisfactory system of control of broadcasting in New Zealand would be by mens of an independent board of cottrol to be set up by the Government on the same lines ag those governing the British Broadcasting Corporation in England, which is entirely free of political control, . (3) "hat the questions of special representation on any proposed board of control be not raised by this conbined meeting, but be left to be considered by the sectional interests if by them thought advisable. (4) "This joint meeting determines that in the event of the Government's proposal being found to be at variance with the prineple embodied -in these resolutions it pledges itself to organise
