Notes from Auckland PRL MILLER, the well-known mezzo-soprano, of Christchurch,
will make her second appearance, A new artist, H. B. Waters, baritone, will be heard in several ballads, The orchestra, under the direction of Harold Baxter, will supply many interesting items, including the selection "The Wortune Teller"? and "The Children’s Suite." Other instrumental items will be given by the Civic Novelty Trio, an excellent combination, whose versatility and artistry are already well known to listeners. Elton Black and Alice Bennetto will once again be heard in a pot pourri of humour and melody. These artists have at their command many years of professional experience in the entertainment world. Selections from 2YA N "Irish Night" will be the feature for to-night. The Orchestrina, under Signor A. P. Truda, will play the overture to "To An Irish Comedy," the selection "Shamrock," two songs, "Danny Boy" and "’m Irish," and two novelty ‘numbers, "Irish Beauty" and "Paddy."
The Etude Quariet will supply the vocal portion of the progranime, which will include many Irish melodies well beloved by all. Also on the programme will be Arthur and Still, mandolin duo, Mr. J. A. Blackwood, piano-accordion player, will entertain listeners with a "Medley of Irish Airs." .
The 3YA Programme f BED Valencia Quartet will provide the vocal portion of the programme, Concerted numbers will inelude such fine melodies as ‘When the Heart is Young," "Old Mother Hubbard" and "The Redesdale Lassie." Orchestral numbers will be provided by the Studio Octet, and a saxophonepiano duo (Lyndon Christie and Clive Winston) will also contribute to the programme. The next talk of Mr. E, Iveagh Lord’s series on "The Story of the Golden Coast" will be broadcast. Dunedin Topics , J. DEVEREUX, who has a very fine voice which he uses to good
effect, will delight listeners with such popular old ballads as "Love’s Old Sweet Song," "The Desert Song" and "A Perfect Day." Lucy.G. James, one of the leading contraltos of the city, will be heard, among her numbers being Easthope Martin’s "Fairings." Miss James is a contralto with an outstanding range. The instrumental portion of the programme will be provided by Pettitt’s popular trio playing wellknown light airs, two of which will be performed over the air for the first time in New Zealand-‘Singing a Love Song that Nobody Hears" and "A Party for Two." Dr. Bdgar Ford, who recently toured New Zealand, ,is represented on the programme in two breezy pianoforte numbers to be performed by Mrs. ©. Drake-"Wood Spirits" and "The Fairies go to Church, * a delightful fantasy.
