Items from 1YA "THE speaker on the 1YA International Programme will be Mr.
Norman Heath, Consul for Latvia, his subject being "Latvia." Talks such as these on the lesser-known countries are always interesting. and help to promote a better international understanding. 2YA Programmes [THE studio programme will be of the popular type, featuring. Merle Miller, mezzo-soprano, of Christchurch. Other vocal items will be given by the Lyrie Quartet, who will be heard in quartets, duets and solos. Berthold and Bent, guitar duo, will delight listeners with popular numbers, ‘The Salon Orchestra, under Mat Dixon, will play "Selection of Guy 4d’Hardelot’s Songs," "Pale Moon," and "Pale Moon" arranged as a dance novelty by Black, the selection "A Girl from Brazil," and the latest dance novelties, Features from 4YA [HE Majors Quartet will feature Plantation songs to-night. Solos will be presented by members of the party. W. B. Lambert wil, in addition to several Hebrew stories, present a revised version of "The Drum Major" with patter. The Kaikorai Band will be heard playing the march "Lyonia," by Trussell, one of New Zealand’s foremost brass band composers and contest adjudicators. "Chu Chin Chow," "A Sailor’s Life,’ "Red, Red Robin, and another march of ‘Trussell’s, "Rimutaka," will also be presented by
the band. Of these items, perlaps the selection "A Sailor’s Life" (by Cope), is, from the musical aspect, the best number. It depicts, in musical form, a sailor’s life at sea, and eontains such beautiful melodies as the well-known hymn "Fierce Raged the Tempest." .
