These are as follow (New Zealand time) :- _ Thursday-4.30 a.m, io 7.380 a.m. Friday-1.30 a.m, to 5.30 a.m. and 9.80 am, to 1.80 p.m. Saturday-5.30 a.m. to 7.30 a.m. and 1.30 p.m, to 5.380 p.m. . ANC, France. A NEW French short-wave station is reported to be working on 47.77 metres. N announcement from W38XAL picked up during the week-end by the. secretary of the New. Zealand Shortwave Club stated that.on May 22 between 9 and 10 p.m, EB.S.0., Dr. Milligan and other eminent. American personalities would broddcast. This should be heard in’ New Zealand.on Saturday, May 23. . se ‘Rio de Janeiro.. A NEW station at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, transmits daily on 31.75 metres from 10 a.m, till noon, New Zealand time. Spanish Broadcast. ME: GEORGE EB. BRIGGS, Morere, HB. (N.2Z6W), reports an i teresting item: "I tuned in at 12 noon mental 30-metre coil, to a station broadcasting, I presume, from Spain. ‘At the time the new President of the Republic was delivering a speech for the benefit of the people in America. Tris was being rebroadcast in New York. The speech was afterward translated into English." Reception was R9 with one-stage of audio. _* _ Mr. Briggs, who is using a "DifferenFour," inquires if anybody else heard this interesting broadeast. If so, which was the station? A Unique Broadcast. have heard about the song of the nightingale being broadcast. from the woods in Surrey, but to hear the roar of lions in. their native jungle would be thrilling, The "Wireless Constructor" (London) made. arrangements with the director of the Hast African short-wave station, VQ7LO. Nairobi, for a unique broadcast. Microphones were to be placed near a pool on the outskirts of Nairobi, where the lions are in the habit of slaking their thirst before starting out on their: nocturnal hunt for food. As these kings of the jungle usually roar a good deal before and after drinking, this should provide a thrill for the listeners who were lucky enough to pick up this novel broadeast.
